"This November, I turn 25.
Everyone in their mid-20s has made a huge leap in their life. Marriage, business, studies, children. For me, it is to come back to my home country to become an artist. As an unmarried woman at this age that still going after her silly dreams, many other expectation comes as a pack of Indonesian customs: love, wealth, and children.
They say “It’s impossible to be younger, so very soon a woman must have them all.”
Why does it seem like women have an expiration date? As if, there is a certain dawn that we will stop blooming."
Reaching the Dawn of Her Youth is an installation piece. Revolves around the topic of time and women, this installation consists of a zoetrope and a painting, both representing the contrasted perspectives of time and its counterparts.
This piece was exhibited in the "Basoeki Abdullah Art Award Exhibition: Conversation with No- Things" held on 21 November - 8 December 2024 at the National Gallery of Indonesia.
